We were also very proud and humbled to honor Robert C. Garrett, FACHE, CEO of Hackensack Meridian Health (HMH) for his leadership during the pandemic and ongoing support of behavioral health. During his acceptance, Mr. Garrett likened the stigma and seriousness of mental illness to that of cancer many years ago, citing that 16 million Americans are living full and happy lives even though they have cancer. “We need to do the same thing with mental illness,” asserted Mr. Garrett. “We need to do it, and we can do it, and we will start here in New Jersey.”
