About Us
Mental wellness happens here. Established in 1950, the Mental Health Association of Monmouth County is a mission-driven 501(c)(3) affiliate of the Mental Health Association in New Jersey and the national nonprofit Mental Health America, dedicated to advancing mental health care and eliminating mental health discrimination. With over 15 free programs and services, we prioritize prevention, early intervention, and integrated care, working toward a society where all individuals are treated with dignity and have the opportunity to thrive, free from stigma and prejudice.
Mission
Our mission is to promote mental health as a critical component of overall wellness. We provide prevention services for all, offer early identification and intervention for those at risk, and deliver integrated care and treatment to those in need—with recovery as the goal.
We accomplish our mission through strength-based programs, education, advocacy, community partnerships, and the shaping of public policy.
Vision
We envision a just, humane, and healthy society where every individual is treated with dignity and has the opportunity to achieve their full potential, free from stigma, prejudice, and other barriers to care and recovery.
Goals
- Encourage personal growth and independence through housing and financial stability
- Expand social services, community outreach, and educational opportunities
- Improve the function and quality of life for individuals and families
- Provide healthy, enriching opportunities for youth at risk
Commitment to Anti-Racism
The Mental Health Association of Monmouth County is committed to advancing an anti-racist agenda and promoting health equity. We affirm the importance of mental health advocacy and recognize that racial injustice has caused trauma and harm to marginalized communities.
We acknowledge that combating racism and inequity is an ongoing commitment. The impact of economic, clinical, and environmental disparities, including diverse linguistic needs, may hinder the opportunity to access and receive quality, equitable mental health care and services. Thus, we remain devoted to addressing discrimination, stigma, and other social and moral determinants of health, leading by example and educating our affiliates and communities.
Together, we stand united in support of racial justice and the intersection of mental health and the well-being of humanity.
