Mental Health and COVID-19 Information
We are committed to addressing the increased mental health needs of our community. To aid individuals and families during this time, we’ve compiled a range of resources and information.
COVID-19 Supportive Counseling
In collaboration with the Monmouth County Board of County Commissioners and Monmouth ACTS, we’re connecting residents to a licensed counselor who will provide up to six free emotional supportive counseling sessions.
Schedule an Appointment: Monmouth County residents may call (732) 542-6422 during normal business hours to schedule an appointment.
Whether you need guidance, support, or resources to navigate the COVID-19 pandemic, we’re here to help.
About the Program
The Mental Health Association of Monmouth County receives requests for emotional support through the Monmouth County Department of Health, New Jersey hotlines, and our main office phone number. We review the request and collect key patient information to best match the client with a licensed counselor. When a counselor has been identified, we request the counselor establish contact with the client.
Clients are eligible to receive up to six free emotional supportive counseling sessions in a telephone/telehealth setting. The counseling service is supportive, not psychotherapeutic. Counselors may use their own practice forms, including Consent for Treatment. When the six sessions are completed, counselors are asked to complete and return a closing summary form with recommendations for referrals and/or the need for further treatment.
Counselors who volunteer for COVID-19 emotional support are not considered employees or have any formal affiliation with the Mental Health Association of Monmouth County.
