Description of Services:
Provides professional consultation to families and loved ones of adults with mental illness. One to one support and education is provided to the families with the goal of helping them to understand serious mental illness, to respond in a manner most helpful to the consumer, and to support their loved one in a way that maintains their own sense of well-being. Assistance with navigating community resources is also provided as needed.
This FREE program is flexible and takes place in the family home, in the agency or at other sites in the community convenient to individual family members. Evening workshops are presented several times throughout the year in addition to FAMILY AND FRIENDS – a support group which provides ongoing emotional support and encouragement to family members and meets each week.
Any family member or significant other of a mental health consumer who is 18 years or older and reside in Monmouth County, NJ. The program will begin at the families’ request and is individualized according to the families’ needs.
